Hi Folks, i just gave one my factory guitars to Adam, a reeally nice kid, i work with his Step Dad, he's 10 years old and already demonstrates will and great interest in learning how to play guitar, what motivated me to give him a guitar was the way he was asking so many questions on the learning part and the way he held the guitar while i was there on a previous visit, i had told my wife that this young man will play guitar soon, he shows a lot of respect for the instrument. So before we had left, i had promised him i'd come back and would give him one and thought this one would make a fine one for a beginner, it's my 25 years old Ibanez D***d*****t! You should have seen the smile when i asked him to come with me to the van, i think he remembered what i had promised him!

Here's my new player Adam holding proudly his first guitar

Me teaching my new protege a little tune called Au clair de la lune!

Adam's Mom Chantal practicing to make sure she would have back up for Adam!

i had promised that guitar to Adam prior to receiving my awesome gift from Hesh at BobC but let's say it reinforced my will to bring a smile to a young man face!

Thanks for watching!

Well done Serge!!!!!

Now you have been on the receiving and giving side of this experience. You and Hesh are making me cry

I told Hesh - I am in search of a student deserving of one of my builds. Maybe that Maple one. Waiting for the school season to start. You and Hesh have really set a fine example for others to follow with your generosity

Thanks guoys!

Rich, the kid did not cry, he was all smile, he must not be normal, i'm such a wimp! Choose a kid for your gift buddy, they are tough cookies!

Thanks JJ, you sure know lots about giving too!

Thanks Anthony, yeah, i remember that maple guitar's sound too, Rich will make someone very happy with that one or any of his finest!

Hesh, i was thinking about you and Lacey the whole time, it made it special that he was a kid, i remember when i was that age and wanted to learn but hadn't the money for a good guitar!

Supposedly, according to his Step Dad, Adam wanted to sleep with it! i thought it was cute!

Thanks Andy and Paul, Ron and Carlton, proud to know you all too! Also proud to be an OLF'er!!!

I forgot to mention that Adam knows about me building guitars and before i left his place, he said he would really want to see me build a guitar so i told him he and his Step Dad'd be welcome in my shop any time for a demonstration, we might have a future builder here!

Congrats Serge. Great story. This kid may not realize the gravity of the gift until he is quite old. He'll enjoy the heck out of it though now and for a long time to come....

Show him how to tune it and change strings.....

Way to Go Serge! Very nice thing to do for the young fella! I remember when I got my first guitar at about his age.How hard is was to play just starting out. I hope you can give him plenty of lessons. You're such a generous guy Serge!

Well done my friend! Warms the heart to hear such great stories of giving and sharing... Makes me want to give one away too...

I think the recipient will be my nephew... Loves to play, is guitar crazy and is very interested that his uncle builds geetars.... Hmmm... Hope he doesn't see it coming!

Thanks Serge and Hesh for setting such a selfless example... Oh, Doc Zim and Rich too!!!

Thanks Fellas!

Thanks Bruce, you're right, i will do that and i also told Chantal and Jacques to buy a good case for it and a guitar tuner, the case i had was just plain cheapo carton. i'll show him more things as soon as i see him again!

Thanks Dave, you bet i will! Adam is a bit too small for now but he will grow up fast so it will take a couple of years before he's really comfie with this guitar but i'm sure he'll be a quick learner!

Thanks Alain, where were you in the last couple days huh? Got strings on no 2 yet? err 2 busy playin' with...ok, i won't go there!
Hey bud, i'd like to witness that if you do!

Good one Hesh!

Thanks Don!

Yep serge , I think young Adam is going to be guitar man for sure . He's got that look in his face . Much more than delighted .

I can still remember my first guitar at age 10 . It was hidden under the folks bed for Xmas . I would peak at it when ever I could . The most excited I'd been in my life .It meant so much to me ,it's hard to describe.

I'm sure it's the same for Adam .He'll never forget your gift , the rest of his life .

I wonderful gift Serge I know how you must feel right about now

'On Ya' Serge

I have to say that that lad is gonna be a pro. He looks so NATURAL with the guitar.

Thanks Craig, Bob and Sam!

Yes Adam is a natural in my book too, the way he holds any guitar in his hands like something so precious don't lie, the numerous questions, the great interest in music and lutherie already, not mentionning that Adam is a very sensible and soft one, should make a very talented lad we'll hear of in the next coming years!

Bob, how are you doing with the CD my friend, did you receive it yet ? Sure would like to buy me one like yours so we can play the same thing at the next gathering, i'm still playing what you taught me!

Thanks!

Serge

Great life lessons. You are changing lives with these acts Serge.
Ditto all the previous sentiments! I have tried to teach my young daughters that the best thing you can do to make yourself happier is to help others. What a great group of people have gathered here in this cyber-heighborhood.

Thanks Joe and Donovan!

I loved watching the movie "Pay it forward", it touched me like millions of people across the globe, we even have a TV show that does just that, helping people in need, randomly or just bringing a smile to their faces by sudden gifts, one of the big gifts that life gave me was to find this generous forum! Now, i know what to do!
